This policy explains what personal information is collected when you use jamescartersound.com and app.jamescartersound.com (the "Site") and the tools on it, and how it is handled. The Site is operated by James Carter personally.

2. What we collect

Email address — only if you enter it in a signup form. It is stored with our email provider (Kit) and used to send you access and occasional updates.
Account details — if you create an account in the tools, your email and learning progress are stored with our database provider (Supabase) so your progress syncs across devices.
Local progress — practice progress, ratings and preferences are stored in your own browser (localStorage). They stay on your device unless you sign in.
Usage statistics — we use Google Analytics to understand how the Site is used (pages viewed, approximate location, device type). This uses cookies.
Feedback — if you send feedback or flag a song in the tools, the message and the item you flagged are stored so we can act on them.

3. What we don't do

We don't sell your personal information. We don't share it with anyone except the service providers above, who process it on our behalf. We don't send spam — you can unsubscribe from any email with one click.

4. Cookies

The Site uses cookies for analytics (Google Analytics) and the tools use browser storage to remember your progress and settings. Embedded YouTube players may set their own cookies under YouTube's policies.

5. Retention and your rights

We keep your information only as long as needed for the purposes above. You can unsubscribe from emails at any time, and you can ask us to delete your email or account data entirely by contacting us. You may also request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.

6. Security

Data is transmitted over HTTPS and held by reputable providers (Cloudflare, Supabase, Kit, Google). No method of storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

7. Children

The Site is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

8. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time; the date above shows the current version.
